Coventry City ladies recorded their first away victory of the season in emphatic style with a 4-0 victory at Curzon Ashton LFC in the Premier League Northern Division.

A fantastic hat-trick from Christina Torkildsen and a neat Callan Barber finish ensured the Sky Blues recorded their second league win of the 2010/11 and First Team Coach Paul Cudby was full of praise for his teams professional  performance.

Paul said: "It was really pleasing to record our first away win of season. What makes it that more pleasing is the fact that we also recorded our first clean sheet and we won the match in such professional manner.”

Throughout the match we showed great discipline and concentration. We looked solid in all departments, from the back right up to front-line and I feel the score-line justified our dominance throughout the 90 minutes.".”

He added: "Looking ahead to next week away at Cardiff in the League Cup, we know we have nothing to lose and everything to play for. We go into the match full of confidence and want to progress into the next round ".”

Coventry City started the brighter of the two teams and after several early half chances finally took the lead in the 8th minute. Callan Barber was fouled inside the Curzon penalty area and Christina Torkildsen comfortably slotted home the resulting spot kick.

The away side deservedly doubled their advantage before half-time thanks to a stunning slide rule pass from Jade Formaston which beautifully picked out Christina Torkildsen who made no mistake in firing home her second goal of the match to give the Sky Blues a comfortable 2-0 lead at half-time.

Paul Cudby's side continued to dominate proceedings after the re-start at it was no surprise to see them strengthen their lead further through Callan Barber who reacted quickest after a corner came in from the right and Barber was able to slot the ball home with a clever right-footed finish.

An impressive first away victory of the season was wrapped up by Coventry City's top goal scorer Christina Torkildsen, who finished off a vintage performance for the Sky Blues with a tidy finish to clinch a well deserved hat-trick and three points for her team.

Coventry City's next match (3/10/10) is their penultimate League Cup match away to Cardiff City LFC, where nothing more than a win will put the Sky Blues into the next round.
