Warwickshire's Tim Ambrose hit his maiden century for England in only his second test.

The wicketkeeper was 97 not out at the close of play last night and when play resumed this morning, he went on to pass his century before being caught by Taylor off the bowling of Mills. for 102.

Ambrose was the first English wicket keeper to make a century for eleven years.

Coventry kid Ian Bell made only eleven runs as England continued to lose cheap wickets and finished all out on 342. Mark Gillespie took the last two wickets and finished with figures of 4-79. .
