Coventry Sphinx Football Club's home ground of Sphinx Drive was selected by West Ham United to be their training base ahead of the Carling Cup tie at the Ricoh Arena last night. Manager Alan Curbishley put his Premiership players, which included Lee Bowyer, Anton Ferdinand and Carlton Cole, through their paces.

Coventry Sphinx manager Paul Charnley was given exclusive access to Curbishley and his squad as he witnessed their light training session on Tuesday morning.

Charnley commented, "It's all a bit surreal really, to have a Premiership side training here at Sphinx Drive is fantastic. It shows how far this club has come with regards profile and facilities and everyone involved with the club should be immensley proud"

West Ham manager Alan Curbishley was equally delighted with the facilities, "The condition of the pitch is superb and we're very grateful to Coventry Sphinx for allowing us to use their ground"
