The Coventry Bees travelled to Swindon tonight for an Elite league match in front of the Sky sports cameras, tracking a full strength side, aiming to build on last friday's home victory.

Heat 1 at the Abbey Stadium seemed to set the tone for the evening as the Bees pairing of Harris and Summers initially led the way only for Swindon'sTroy Batchelor to sweep into the lead for his only race win of the night.

Thereafter the Bees rode hard, none more so than Eddie Kennett but it was just not going to be their night as Eddie Kennett suffered mechanical gremlins in Heat 3, and worse to come in the middle of the meeting as first Scott Nicholls bike shed a chain whilst leading, and in the following race, Kenny Larsen's bike slowed, aparently due to the exhaust coming adrift, whilst in second behind the tactical ride of Kennett.

Thus an 8-1 to the Bees which would've brought them back to within 3 points with 6 heats to go, only yielded a 3 point advantage.

The Robins, gating was on the whole much better than the Bees which proved telling in the end as the Bees went down to a 54-39 defeat.

The Bees scorers tonight were:

1. Chris Harris - 1' , 3 , 2 , 2 , 1 = 9+1
2. Aaron Summers - 2 , 0 , 1' , 1' = 4+2
3. Kenni Larsen - 2 , 2 , R , 2 = 6
4. Edward Kennett - R , 1' , 6^ , 3 , 0 = 10+1
5. Scott Nicholls - 1 , 3 , R , 0 = 4
6. Adam Roynon - 2 , 1 , 1 , 0 , 0 = 4
7. Henning Bager - 0 , 0 , 2 , AR = 2
