Nuneaton Win And Leamington Draw

Nuneaton Town beat Vauxhall Motors 2-1 in a Conference North fixture this afternoon.

A crowd of 622, saw Leighton McGivern give the Merseyside based club the lead when his long ranger flew in, with 25 minutes gone.

Danny Glover was the man who changed the game. He came on in the 62nd minute and had a goal ruled out for offside before he was pulled down for a penalty which he got up and scored from in the 67th minute,

Nuneaton, who had former Sky Blues Adam Walker and Mark Noon cautioned, continued to attack and Wesley York was brought down by Hannigan who was sent off and Glover put away the resulting penalty to give Nuneaton a 2-1 win.

Leamington were held to a 0-0 draw by Chippenham Town.

Bedworth United were beaten in a Southern League Central game at Fleet Town.

Cox put Fleet ahead in the opening minute of the second half and although Brown levelled in the 67th minute, a goal from King in the first minute of stoppage time condemned the Greenbacks to a defeat.

Rugby Town beat Burnham 4-1 at Butlin Road. Hamilton opened the scoring for VS in the second minute, only for Pritchard to level fourteen minutes later.

Goals from Blythe (20) and Banks (27) put VS 3-1 up at half-time before a fourth goal from Williams in the 63rd minute, wrapped up a good afternoon for the majority of the 202 crowd.

Coventry Sphinx are top of the Midland Alliance by four points after a 2-1 win against Boldmere St Michaels.

Ben Harrison scored in the 59th minute for Atherstone Town but they lost 3-1 at Ellesmere Rangers.

Martin Thompson opened the scoring for Stratford Town but Bridgnorth scored twice in the second half to leave Knights Lane with a 2-1 victory.

In the Midland Combination Premier Division, Coventry Copsewood were beaten 3-0 at Bartley Green and Nuneaton Griff lost 5-0 at Brocton.

In the Warwickshire derby, Racing Club Warwick went two goals up through Crawford (4) and Semper (27), only for Southam United to kit back in the second half with goals from Smith (54) Taylor (80) and Neal (90 + 2).

In the Midland Combinaton Division Two, Coventry Spartans lost 1-0 at home to Chelmsley Town whilst the game between Leamington Hibernian and Young Warriors finished 0-0.
