Nuneaton Secretary Airlifted To Hospital

The secretary of Nuneaton Town Ian Brown had to be airlifted to hospital this afternoon before Nuneaton's home game with Stalybridge Celtic.

Mr Brown who was on crutches after a back operation, was hit by a stray ball during the players warm up and left unable to move.

The Air Ambulance was summoned and Mr Brown, a member of City's 1987 FA Youth Cup squad and an unofficial consultant to Coventry City's Board, was airlifted to University Hospital at Walsgrave in Coventry.

Kick off was delayed until 4.10pm and Nuneaton went on to lose 2-1 with former City youngster Neil Collett conceding a penalty two minutes from time.

Former Sky Blue Iyseden Christie scored for Tamworth in a 1-1 draw at Barrow.

Leamington drew 1-1 at Hemel Hempstead with a Tuohy equaliser in the 88th minute.

In the Central Division, Rugby Town beat Chertsey Town 1-0 and Bedworth United won 3-1 at Chalfont St Peter.

In the Midland Alliance, Atherstone lost 4-0 at Heath Hayes and Stratford Town lost 3-1 at Tividale.

In the Athium Midland Combination Premier Division, Racing Club Warwick lost 2-0 at Bolehall Swifts, Southam United won 4-2 at Continental Star, Nuneaton Griff drew 0-0 at Pershore Town.

Division one results saw a 3-1 win for Alvis at Droitwich Spa

In the Les James Challenge Cup, Young Warriors won 4-1 at Leamington Hibernian.
