The Coventry Cassidy Jets have beefed up their run defence with the signing of two North American giants. Canadian Andrew Buckles is a graduate of the University of Guelph where he played with former Jets Neil Balthazaar and David Sonne. The imposing defensive tackle is equally comfortable at offensive guard and stands at 6'3" whilst weighing in at 18 stone.
Still only 23, Buckles has a wealth of experience, most recently with the Oakville Longhorns in his Ontario hometown. "I love to travel and to play football" stated the likeable Canadian, "I'm enjoying being part of the Jets family and being in Coventry, especially the fantastic weather! I'd like to takeaway some wisdom, good memories and most of all a National Title".
Buckles will line up alongside Winston Dumas who, at 6'3" and 24 Stone, poses an intimidating figure for opponents. The 24 year old substitute teacher from Atlanta, Georgia most recently plied his trade at Campbellsville University where he was a three year starter for the Tigers.
Having a keen interest in weightlifting it's little surprise that Dumas won the Iron Tiger award for his bench press abilities
Most recently living in Lexington, Dumas was delighted to receive a camp invite to his local Arena Football team the Kentucky Horsemen. "Whilst I'm in Coventry I'd love to help the Jets win another British Championship. Winning is a habit and there's a strong tradition of success at the club that I feel honoured to be a part of". Both players will look to make their debuts in the Jets' next fixture away to the London Blitz on Sunday the 2nd of August.
