Coventry Blaze are to take part in the first ever Ice Hockey Charity Shield.

The league winners will face play-off winners Nottingham Panthers at the National Ice Centre on September 5th.

All the money from the game which Blaze boss Paul Thompson feels "could be an annual event",will go to charity.

Coventry Rugby Club have signed David Maddocks from Newport Gwent Dragons. The prop forward is a former Wales U21 international who has played European club rugby.

Warwickshire County Cricket are doing a feasibility study to see if some matches can be played away from Edgbaston. All home matches have been played in Birmingham for the last two years after the pitch at Stratford caused wickets to tumble and the game was over by lunch on the second day.

Cov and North Warwicks Cricket club on Binley Road is one venue which could stage matches if the Bears Committee do decide to look at playing ther odd game away from their main home.

In the Coventy 20/20 cup, Cov & North Warwicks beat Copsewood West Indian Wanderers by 35 runs.

Second round matches saw ,a Dominic Ostler inspired Berkswell beat Bablake Old Boys by 41 runs, Nuneaton beat Griff & Coton by 121 runs, Leamington beat Highway by three wickets and Kenilworth Wardens beating Wellesbourne by 98 runs.
