Cassidy Jets Complete 2008 Line-Up

The Cassidy Jets completed their roster overhaul this week with the signing of Stuart Ennis. The former Birmingham Bull will likely slot into the Jets defensive backfield as well as provide cover for fellow new signings, quarterbacks Dax Michelena and Neil Balthazaar.

The trio effectively replace last seasons quarterback trio of BAFL 2007 MVP Tim Spaull, Luke Smith and Pete Davis. Both Smith and Spaull headed to newly promoted Farnham Fastlane Knights where they'll battle incumbent starter Ashley Heath while Davis transferred to the Peterborough Saxons.

Taking the place of departed Kiwis Johnny Hopewell and Tyler Matia are Simon McEvoy and Prince Floyd. Tyler is now in the USA playing Arena Football for the Rio Grande Valley Dorados whilst countryman Johnny is with the Cassidy Jets Eurobowl rivals the Bergamo Lions. Simon's former clubs include the London Olympians and he is also a member of the Great Britain Lions squad. Prince is familiar to Jets fans as he played here last season when he visited with the Madrid Bears.

Also arriving from the Olympians is linebacker Adewale Oyemade, the diminutive backer adds speed and aggression to a linebacker core that lost American Jason Allen. 'Wylie' is joined by Canadian Alistair Bailey who arrives from Swiss club Winterthur Warriors. The two signings more than offset the loss of Liam Smith who has joined his brother Luke at the Knights.

Also joining the club are Great Britain running back Kofi Campbell who started his Caasidy Jets career in style with a 68 yard touchdown against Valencia. Kofi also arrives from Birmingham alongside the returning Dominic Olney and strong safety Nigel Dias. None of these players can claim to come from a more storied team than wide receiver Jonathan Gordon who arrives with the Jets after a stint with UCLA in the United States top level of Collegiate Football.

As well as the established names that the Cassidy Jets have been able to sign come a crop of rookies. 3 new players have made the squad this season. Wide receiver Steve Podmore plus defensive backs Darren Mellor and Adam Grindrod.

The Cassidy Jets now head out to Oslo for a Eurobowl showdown with the Vikings whose 38-9 victory over the Valencia Firebats makes Saturday's game a group decider. Europe's second ranked team, the Swarco Tirol Raiders, await the victor. Meanwhile, Coventry's victory last week saw them rise to their highest ever ranking. The Cassidy Jets currently sit eleventh in the Euro top 20.
