At Wimborne road tonight the Coventry Bees faced Poole Pirates in the 1st leg of the Craven Shield semi-final seeking to keep the match as close as possible.

With Poole always a force, and welcoming back from injury Adam Skornicki, the Bees went down to a heavy defeat by 58 points to 34. Top scorers for Poole was Davey Watt with a 5 ride 15 point maximum, but that man Skornicki was the real thorn for the Bees scoring 15+3 points from his 7 rides.

Whilst there was some good duels out on track the fight was largely taken up by Chris Harris who top scored for the Bees with 13 points from his 5 rides which included a double points scoring tactical ride that netted 4 points.
The fact that the Bees next highest scorer on the night was Billy Janniro with 5+3 points showed how the rest of the team were outbattled.

The 2nd leg is at Brandon this friday where it will take a huge effort for the Bees to overturn the 24 point deficit.

Tonights Bees scorers were:

Rory Schlein 1 1 2 1 =5
Olly Allen 0 0 X 1' =1+1
Chris Harris 2 4^ 3 2 2 =13
Billy Janniro 1' 1' 2' 1 0 =5+3
Simon Stead 0 2 3 0 =5
Stan Burza R 1' 0 0 =1+1
Ben Barker 1 1 2 0 =4
