Good Opening For Warwickshire

Warwickshire got off to a good start against Northamptonshire in their second County Championship match.

Play at Wantage Road in Northampton was delayed until after lunch and the home side opted to bat first against a Warwickshire side that included Tim Ambrose and Coventry kid Ian Bell.

They fielded well with debutant Monde Zondeki grabbing his first wicket when he had Wakely superby caught by Ant Botha for six.

A catch by Ambrose off Neil Carter's bowling saw off Stephen Peters for 15 and Darren Maddy took the wicket of David Sales and Zondeki took the wicket of White.

Just before tea, Botha took the wicket of Wesells and Northamptn were 127-5 at tea. By the close of play,Northampton had taken their total to 252-6.
