Warwickshire County Cricket club warmed up for the new season which is just under a fortnight away with an 83 run friendly victory at Worcestershire.

With the home side testing out a new square following winter flooding, Warwickshire batted first after an hour's delay in a game reduced to forty overs per side.

Neil Carter and Darren Maddy opened the batting opened for the Bears and took advantage of some short pitched bowling from Andrew and Kabir Ali to post a half century partnership in the tenth over.

Maddy, hit 51 with an array of sixes and fours whilst Carter made 43. Ian Westwood then chipped in with 50 as did Jon Trott to take the score to 245-3 at the end of forty overs.

The home side, who will also join Warwickshire in the second division of the County Championship and who are The Bears first opponents, were soon unable to deal with Lee Daggett and were reduced to 12-3.

Dagget went on to take four wickets whilst Batty was 59 not out at the end as Worcester finished on 162-9.
