Coventry Sphinx were back to winning ways with a 3-1 win at Leicester based Friar Lane and Epworth.

Paul Charnley's side were ahead in the 5th minute of this Midland Alliance fixture through Kyle Rhodes. Jack Cudworth added a second in the 56th minute before the home side pulled one back. In the last seconds of the match, Craig Martin scored a third for Sphinx.

In the Championship today, Watford,who travel to the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday night are clear by six points after a 1-0 win against Hull. Second are Bristol City who won 3-1 at Norwich. Darren Huckerby scored for the Canaries.

Charlton, who lost 2-0 at fourth placed Wolves (Jay Bothroyd scored one of the goal) are third.

Plymouth's 1-0 win over City lifts them to sixth and moves the Sky Blues down to tenth place.

Colchester beat West Brom at Layer Road 3-2 with Sheffield Wedneday winning 4-2 at Stoke. All the other games in the Championship ended in draws.

Richie Partridge scored twice for Chester in a 2-1 win at Stockport.

In the Conference North, Nuneaton drew 1-1 at home to Kettering.

It was FA Trophy day. Rugby Town were beaten 3-1 at home by Clevedon. Managerless Bedworth United drew 1-1 at Hillingdon Borough, but Leamington beat Banbury United 2-0 with Ben Mackey scoring both goals for The Brakes.

In the Midland Alliance, leaders Stratford Town were beaten 4-0 at in form side Market Drayton. Atherstone beat Boldmere St Michaels with a Roy Dunkley goal. Ryan Howell scored the only goal of the game as Racing Club Warwick beat Shifnal Town.

Cup holders Coventry Copsewood are out of the Endsleigh Challenge Cup after a 3-2 second round defeat at Feckenham. Partridge and Fraser scored for Scott Furlong's side.
