First Cov Player At Wembley

Iyseden Christie this afternoon became the first Coventry born player to play at the new Wembley Stadium.

The former Sky Blue played for 75 minutes in Kidderminster Harriers FA Trophy Final defeat against Stevenage Borough.

Harriers who lost 5-1 to City in a pre-season friendly back in August, raced into a two goal lead in front of a crowd of 53,286 through Constable but goals from Cole,Dobson and Morrison in the 88th minute were enough to give Stevenage the win.

In the Championship Play-Off Semi-Final, Derby County take a 2-1 lead into the second leg after a victory at Southampton. Andrew Surman put the Saints ahead in the 7th minute but Steve Howard scored twice for the Rams.

Last night, the Coventry Telegraph Cup Final was finally sorted. The first game between Norman Place Road based Christ The King and Midland Combination Premier Division outfit Highgate United ended in a 1-1 draw at the Ricoh Arena and it was stalemate in the second game played at Coventry Copsewood FC after ninety minutes.

Both sides scored in extra time with Highgate winning 6-5 on penalties.

Coventry Copsewood are the Midland Combination League Cup Champions with a 1-0 win against Pilkington XXX at Tamworth.

Scott Furlong's side won the game with an 82nd minute strike from Chris Heal.
