The Sky Blue Ladies eased their way into the 2nd Round with a narrow win that always looked more comfortable than the one goal margin suggests.

With Formaston, Brace, Gauntlett and Jenni Lowe all unavailable, Neil Wilson's starting line up was very different to the one that cruised to a 4-1 league win at Leicester last weekend.

The scorer of the opener though was again Danni Saulter, sliding the ball under keeper Fensome on 37 minutes after collecting Wade's inch perfect through ball following Lipman's flick on.

It was to be Lippo's last involvement as she went off feeling groggy, to be replaced by Kirsty O"Sullivan.

The Sky Blues continued to create chances, but failed to add to their tally and at half time the score remained 1-0.

Leicester rallied a little after the break and enjoyed more possession, but rarely troubled home keeper Robery, while at the other end Chloe Fensome made good saves from Byrne, Saulter and Wade.

On 75 mins Wilson replaced Byrne and Henson with Keeley Lowe and Kelley-Ann Willis but with Leicester looking ever more stretched still a second goal eluded the home side.

With just four minutes remaining the Sky Blues were rocked back on their heels when Nat Wilcox was adjudged to have fouled Claire Stephens and was sent off for her second bookable offence. From the resultant free kick Fran Gamble sent an exquisite curler into the top corner to level the scores and set up a dramatic last few minutes; with the Sky Blues going all out to finish it to avoid going into extra time with 10 players.

They almost made it when Sinead Wade's pace took her one on one with the keeper but her shot was blocked by the keeper's feet and ricocheted back off Wade to roll agonizingly inches wide of the post.

One minute into time added on, Saulter threaded through to the feet of Keeley Lowe, who coolly lobbed the advancing Fensome into an empty net before disappearing under a bundle of sky blue shirts as City deservedly booked their place in the 2nd round draw.
