Blaze Still Have It All To Do

Coventry Blaze still have it all to do after drawing 2-2 at home to Newcastle Vipers in the Play-Off Quarter-Final First Leg.

At the Sky Dome tonight, Blaze who had to concede home advantage in the second leg due to events at Newcastle's Metro Arena, fell behind on 10.30 when Likit Andersson scored for the visitors.

Paul Thompson's side hit back just before the end of the first period when Adam Calder scored unassisted on a power play.




In to the second period and it was Adam Calder who put Coventry ahead for the first time in the match when he finished off an assist by Jon Weaver on 23.25 for another power play goal.

To the delight of the travelling support, Newcastle equalised on 32.59 through Ed Courtenay assisted by Longstaff and Campbell.

The Geordies only had four shots in the second period compared to the Blaze's sixteen but things were tight in the third period as the match finished all square.

Tomorrow night, the Blaze travel to Newcastle for the second leg which starts at 5pm.
