Blaze Lose To Cardiff

Coventry Blaze were beaten 6-4 at the Sky Dome by Cardiff Devils in a Challenge Cup match tonight.

After a good 6-3 victory at Newcastle last night, the Blaze found themselves two goals to one down by the end of the first period.

Tylor Michel put the Devils ahead on 9.43 when he scored and with Dan Carlson in the sin bin for roughing, Mark Richardson added a second on 13.17.

Blaze's Derek Campbell was not happy the goal and he got a ten minute penalty for misconduct.

Blaze hit back on 16.32 when Luke Fulghum scored assisted by Adam Calder and Jon Weaver.

Into the second and Matt Miller on a power play goal on 25.34 made it 3-2 to Cardiff. Jason Robinson scored his first goal for Coventry on 28.01, only for Cardiff to score twice through Gerad Adams on 31.02 and a Tylor Michel unassisted goal forty seconds later.

Russ Cowley pulled another back for the Blaze to leave Coventry trailing 503 at the end of the second period.

With two minutes and seven seconds remaining of the match, Dan Carlson hit a fourth for the Blaze but Matt Miller on 58.45 netted to give Cardiff a 6-4 victory.
