Coventry Blaze went down to a 3-2 defeat to Cardiff Devils tonight.

Watched by a poor crowd at the Sky Dome including twenty from Cardiff, the Blaze took to the ice in their black road jerseys and were a goal down after 16 seconds when Jervis netted.

On 27.02, Cardiff hit a second through Michel but 38 seconds later, the Blaze pulled one back through Brad Zanon, assisted by Smith and Carlson.

Blaze attacked again and equalised on 29.54 through Dan Carlson, assisted by Lee.

It was all level for just under five minutes but much to the dismay of the Blaze fans, it was Cardiff who went back in front through Sawyer on 34.43.

Now referee Hicks is known for his controversy and the Blaze fans were in uproar when a 47th minute goal was chalked off. The red light had gone in and the puck bounced off the bar and down over the line but Mr Hicks over turned the decision of the goal umpire and the Blaze went down to a pre-season defeat to Cardiff.

On Sunday, the Blaze start their league season with a home game against Nottingham Panthers.
