Blaze Defender Off To Denmark

Coventry Blaze defenceman David Phillips has left to join Danish side SønderjyskE.

The 24 year who has played in North America, Hull and Belfast made 44 appearances for The Blaze after joining in the summer.

He scored four goals and had nineteen assist and Blaze Coach Paul Thomson told the Blaze official website: “Davey received a great offer from Denmark and I was not going to stand in his way.

“I also had to do what was best for Coventry Blaze and was not just going to let him go but with Peter Nylander coming in it gave me that opportunity.

“Davey is a big talent and he is joining a top team and I wish him all the very best. Europe is where he wants to be and I hope he is successful there.”

The Blaze have away then home games against Nottingham Panthers this weekend.
