Blaze Cut To Pieces By The Steelers

Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team were beaten 8-3 at home by Sheffield Steelers on Saturday night.

The action at the Sky Dome started straight away with Ashley Tait getting the Steelers on the board with a powerplay goal on 1.27.

Jon Phillips made it two on 2.01, on 7.14, Jeff Legue scored an unassisted short handed goal for a third and an unassisted short handed goal for Danny Myers made it 4-0 on 16.05.

There was only one goal in the second period and that fell to the Steelers who scored a powerplay goal on 36.27 through James Jorgensen.

The Blaze pulled one back on 43.05 through Josh Bruce, who scored assisted by Derek Campbell and Steven Chambers.

Sheffield went up the other end and Steve Goertzen scored a sixth for the visitors on 43.49.

James Griffin hit a second, assisted by Josh Bruce for The Blaze on 48.23 and a third came from Derek Campbell, assisted by Dustin Cameron on 50.03.

But Sheffield were not finished and two power play goals from Jeff Legue on 53.52 and Jon Phillips on 58.36, saw the Blaze crash to an 8-3 defeat.
