Coventry Blaze were beaten 2-0 in their final game of the season against Sheffield Steelers in the Elite League Play-Off Final in Nottingham.

Blaze's Trevor Koenig has been the busier of the two net minders and with Neal Martin is making his final appearance for the Blaze off the ice , Phillips put The Steelers ahead with six minutes and twenty seconds left of the first period at the National Ice Centre.

Blaze did not help themselves by racking up penalties and praying that Sheffield would continue to miss their chances.

An excellent turn out of Blaze fans who had paid up to £48 each to get in, saw a lot tighter performance from the Blaze in the second period. However, Trevor Keonig could only get a hand on a shot and Dan Tesse scored on a power play in the 35th minute.

Blaze offered little in the third period. Danny Stewart was denied late on as was Calder and Martin but it was not enough to get the Elite League and Knock Out Cup winners back in the game.
