Bees Through In KO Cup

Following last nights 4 point victory at Peterborough the 2nd leg quickly came about tonight at Brandon.

The meeting didn't get off to the best of starts for the Bees with a 4-2 reverse in the 1st heat (re-started after some movement at the tapes) and a maximum 5-1 reverse in the reserves race in heat 2, leaving the Bees 2 points down on aggregate at an early stage.

Heats 3 and 4 saw heat wins traded between the 2 teams so entering heat 6 the Bees remained 2 points down overall. Step up Chris Harris and Ben Barker to claim a heat maximum, with some sublime 1st corner racing to leave the Panthers pairing chasing their exhaust pipes.

Soem hard riding 1st corner from the Panthers Korneilissen forced his team mate into the fence, and whilst the rider remounted his bike to continue the race, the Bees rider Sitera had the skill to turn inside to miss the goings on and take 3rd place to gain a 4-2 heat win.

Heats 8 and 9 were drawn taking the Bees into the interval holding a 4 point aggregate lead.

Heat 10 provided some drama with the Panthers rider Vissing falling and his team mate Korneiliussen being unable to avoid him. The race was stopped as a result with Vissing excluded from the re-run and Kornieliussen withdran from the rest of the meeting.

The Bees duo of Chris Harris and Ben Barker duly netted a 5-1 in the re-run.

A drawn heat 11 followed and then heat 12 provided more incident. The Bees dup of Olly Allen and Joel Parsons were holding a 5-1, when the Panthers rider Bach fell and caused the race to be stopped. With Bach excluded the meetign referee ordered the heat to be re-run, and having fallen in his previous 2 outings Bees supporters were wondering of Joel Parsons could keep up his form from the previous 2 laps.

The sole remaining Panther (Haines) was all over Joel for the race but somehow he held on for 2nd place and the 5-1 that was on before the race stoppage was now duly bagged.

The Bees now held a 12 point aggregate lead which was still in place after a drawn heat 13.

Heat 14 again had some incident with the Panthers rider Vissing ensuring on the 1st corner that he remained ahead or Bee Edward Kennett by taking him out into the dirt on the first corner. However such was the magnitude of this move that it left a huge gap on the inside which the Bees other rider Filip Sitera grately grasped to take the lead.

Having seemingly dispatched of Kennett Vissing now set about catching and trying to pass Sitera, but on the final corner of the final lap Vissing overcooked his move allowing Kennett to come through to take 2nd place and a Bees 5-1 took the lead out to 16 points with only the final race to come.

Given some of the incident in earlier races heat 15 was a straightforward tapes to flag victory for the Bees, the 5-1 from Chris Harris and Olly Allen securing a 5-1, an on-the-night scoreline of 53-37 and an aggregate victory of 100 points to 80.
