Coventry Bees drew their first semi-final tonight 45-45.

In the first leg of the Play-off Semi-Final against Swindon at Brandon, the visitors who are title favourites and a side which has an eight point advantage over the Bees thanks to a bizarre bit of handicapping which many of the Bees riders felt was unfair, did not lose a heat until Heat 8.

The Bees, who had Ben Barker riding after receiving treatment from Coventry City's medical staff for an injured shoulder/collarbone, had three 3-3's in heats 1,3 and 6 but a couple of 4-2's and a 5-1 had Swindon ahead by 33-27 at the interval.

Bees Rider Ricky Wells was taken to hospital after coming off his bike in ahat 11 which saw a 4-2 win for Swindon but two 4-2's which should have been 5-1's for The Bees had the match all level at 42 all going into the final heat.

And it finished all square. Rory Schlein, who became a father for the second time last week took the lead and it looked like a 5-1 for the Bees until Adams and Zagar got past Chris Harris whose bike packed up.

The second leg is at Blundson next Monday.
