Bees Beaten At Lakeside

Coventry Bees Speedway Team were beaten 47-43 at Lakeside Hammers

The meeting at Arena Essex Raceway, which was live on Sky Sports, saw the Bees, who had Jan Gravesen guesting, go down to a 5-1 in the opening heat, followed by a 3-3 and another 5-1 for the Hammers thanks to Ed Kennett retiring in a re-run third heat

Heat four was also re-run and finished in a 3-3 as did heats five and six.

The Hammers won heat seven 4-2 but the Bees came back with two 4-2's to pull it back to 29-26. 

Heat ten was a 3-3, Chris Harris and Arron Summers rode for a 3-3 in heat 11 and in heat 12, Kennett and Gravesen raced. 42 year old Peter Karlson took the lead as Kennett and Mear battled it out for a 4-2 to the Hammers which increased their lead by four points.

Harris and Nicholls rode against Davy Watt who had only just made the meeting after his flight from Poland had been cancelled. Harris just beat Watts for a 4-2 and his first win of the evening. 

So with two heats to go, Lakeside who needed to win, lead 40-38.

In Heat fourteen, Szczepaniak went down on the first lap and was out of it. The race continued with Kenni Larsen trying to chase down Robert Mear, replacing Sedgeman who held on to win 4-2, meaning that Coventry could not win the meeting.

Chris Harris (8pts) and Scott Nicholls (10pts) rode in the final heat which saw both sides needing a 5-1. Peter Karlson shot from third to first for a 3-3 to see the meeting finish Lakeside 47-43 Coventry Bees and a point for the Bees.
