Another New Signing For Coventry Jets

Last updated : 15 May 2010 By Adam Etheridge

After a five year absence, wide receiver Peter Cleaver has returned to the Coventry Jets to finish his career on a high note. The forty year old management consultant has kept himself in peak physical condition and will be looking to help the Jets compete for another national title. With the backing of Ultralife, an Aylesbury based Supplement Company that produce a range of high quality lifestyle and performance products to address nutritional issues, Cleaver is intent on winning a starting position at slot receiver.

A member of the Jets' 2005 Division 2 winning squad, Cleaver departed for subsequent spells with the Birmingham Bulls and most recently the Oxford Saints. "It wasn't a difficult decision to transfer from Oxford as I recently moved back home" stated the Rugby native "but there will always be a place in my heart for the Saints and their's is the result I always look for first".

Cleaver has an impressive CV and can boast spells with the Great Britain Spartans as well as the French Axe Arenaball team. An All-England decathlete at the age of sixteen, Cleaver has excelled within a variety of sports as well as American football. After serving in the army for five years Cleaver started his career with the London Express before moving on to the West London Aces and then the Milton Keynes Pioneers.

Apart from Cleaver, Ultralife also sponsor other top calibre athletes including Kevin Brown (four times world champion and current world champion at the Discus) Natasha Blunt Great Britain U19 Triathlete, Russell Freakley and Jody Shuttleworth who are both NABBA champion bodybuilders as well as a number of other up and coming athletes.

Established in 2001 Ultralife Ltd set out to specifically research, develop, manufacture and market leading-edge nutritional products that will assist in supporting some of the key health challenges of our age. In June 2009 Ultralife was acquired by a small UK based pharmaceutical company which has continued to run Ultralife (now Ultralife Healthcare Ltd) with the same values as it's previous owners.

Ultralife fully appreciates that the rapidly escalating rates of chronic diseases prevalent in nearly all western societies stem mainly from preventable risk factors and that good nutrition and effective; sustained weight loss must be central to any solution. In developing its nutritional supplements, Ultralife has focused not only on nutrient quality but also on food supplement delivery. In this respect, all existing products are delivered uniquely as drinks. The products have been developed following extensive panel testing to ensure their attractiveness to population groups that would not normally be interested in consuming tablet or capsule forms.

Cleaver, now recovered from full knee reconstruction, will get the chance to show how Ultralife has helped him stay healthy into his forties. His 2005 season with the Jets was ruined by a heel injury and he's now chomping at the bit for the season to begin. With the postponement of Sunday's visit to the London Cobras, the Jets' first game will be against the Bristol Aztecs at the Butts Park Arena on Saturday the 22nd of May.

The game will be preceded by the Jets Youth facing the Birmingham Bulls.

The action gets underway at 11:00 and entry prices are £5 for adults, £2 for Under 16s with a family ticket that covers 2 adults and 4 children for just £10.
