Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey team have signed Canadian forward Mike McLean.

The 25 year old from Ontario played last season for Central Hockey League side the Quad City Mallards, where he was joint top scorer and also has experience with American Hockey League side The Milwaukee Admirals.

He become the Blaze's seventh new signing and their Coach Paul Thompson told the Blaze Official Website: “Mike is a big, strong all-round player.

“He has good size and is mobile and they were things I was really looking for in my recruitment process.

“I have done extensive checks on him and everyone I have spoken to has said the same thing.

“Mike is a strong skater, has good wheels, he plays the body, he finishes his hits and his points production is good.

“He was the joint-top scorer for Quad City last season and played in the All-Star game. He is a relatively young guy but has a lot of experience behind him and has just under half a point a game in the AHL.”
