Coventry Lord Mayor Dave Batten has offered his support to the Sky Blues, Speaking to the CT which was forced to back the campaign started by the Sky Blue Trust after protests from users of its forum,

His Worship said: "Anything anybody can do to get us out of this precarious position is good. "It is such a big part of the city, it is a huge part of Coventry's life. One of our strong areas is leisure and sport and Coventry City leads that sporting life.

"I know there are lots of fans engaged with the Coventry Blaze ice hockey, Coventry Buildbase Bees and rugby clubs and all other clubs but Coventry City is the pinnacle of sport in our city so people should support it.

"We have got to find an absolute solution to the current problem. "Leicester went through all this and survived, so did Leeds. There is no reason why Coventry can't survive. "I go to as many games as I possibly can. When I am free and I have no other dates I am up at the Ricoh."
