Hotels Planned For Car Park C

Coventry City Council are to discuss whether to keep Car Park C opposite the Ricoh Arena as a car park or use some of the land to build a budget hotel and a luxury hotel.

Two hotel operators have already approached Arena Coventry Limited about the scheme which has been in the pipeline for a couple of years.

Outline planning permission has already been given for the scheme but it will need full approval from a full City council before the scheme reported to be costing £25m can go ahead.

A number of people in the City are backing the scheme for the building of the hotels and have already said there are not enough beds in the City, whilst ACL boss Daniel Gidney told the CT: "We've lost half a million pounds worth of conferences last year because there was not enough accommodation at the Ricoh."

Should the scheme go ahead, matchday parking will be reduced, when asked what supporters who park there should do, when the plans were first aired a couple of years ago, the response from a then ACL employee was to use the 101 bus.
